Description:
This painting is an allegory of the creative power of union, illustrating—according to the title—the birth of energy and light from the fusion of opposing principles.
At the center of the composition, a couple is depicted in a passionate embrace, standing in a lush green field sprinkled with flowers. The climax of their union is marked by a spectacular burst of light—a stellar flash radiating from their point of contact—symbolizing the genesis of a new energy. This “created light” is not an external source, but the direct result of their merging.
The background is divided to emphasize the theme of polarity: on the left, a serene nocturnal landscape with a waterfall and a full moon represents the receptive, feminine principle (Anima). On the right, dynamic cosmic energy swirls evoke the active, masculine principle (Animus). The couple thus becomes the point of balance and genesis between these two worlds.
The expressive and romantic painting style, with energetic brushwork, enhances the dynamism of the scene. The work is a meditation on the alchemical concept of hieros gamos (sacred marriage), in which the perfect union of polarities gives birth to a third, transcendent force.
